Police arrests five drug peddlers, recovers contraband substances

 Feb 20 (KNS): Police in a series of actions against drug dealings in Anantnag and Srinagar have arrested five drug peddlers and seized contraband substance from their possession.

 
“In Anantnag, Officers at a checkpoint established at Arwani Bridge Bijbehara arrested two drug peddlers identified as Firdous Ahmad Thokar and Zubair Ahmad Ganaie both residents of Hassanpora Tawela. During checking officers were able to recover psychotropic substances from their possession,”statement issued to KNS reads.
 
They have been shifted to Police Station Bijbehara where they remain in custody.
 
Case FIR No 26/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Bijbehara and investigation has been taken up.
 
In an another action in Srinagar, Officers at a checkpoint established at Eidgah near Metador Adda intercepted an i-10 car bearing registration number JK01H-0027 and arrested three drug peddlers. They have been identified as Dawood Farooq Mir, Shahzaib Yaseen Wani and Usman Khan all residents of Firdousabad Batmaloo. Officers during checking were able to recover 9.20 grams of heroin from their possession.
 
They have been shifted to Police Station Safakadal where they remain in custody.
 
 A Case FIR No. 13/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Safakadal and further investigation has been taken up.
 
 “Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
 
Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace as reiterated in our community meetings,” statement reads.(KNS)
