Super-50, free coaching for professional, competitive courses launched in Srinagar

Srinagar, Dec 09 (KNS): Advisors to the Governor, Khurshid Ahmad Ganai and K. Vijay Kumar launched Super-50—free coaching for various professional and competitive courses at Shri Pratab Higher Secondary School, Srinagar.
Addressing the mammoth gathering of students, academics and faculty members, Advisor to Governor, Khurshid Ahmad Ganai said that by launching such prestigious programmes, students appear to be the greatest beneficiaries.
He said that there was no substitute to hard work and the students should be focused in their endeavors. He told the told students that challenges would keep getting bigger as they grow. Hence, they should be willing to give their best.
Recalling some of the former ace bureaucrats, including Shushma Choudhary, Muhammad Shafi Pandit, Dr SS Beloria, Muhammad Iqbal Khanday, Parvez Dewan, C. Phusunk, Moti Lal Koul, BR Kundal and Vijay Bakaya for their immense contribution in the development of the State, Ganai said that these pioneering officers have left an indelible mark on the civil services— and contributed tremendously on the policy making and developmental scenario of the State.
He told students that their success reflected the effort made by them and failures did not deter them nor did they rest on their laurels.
“Students needed to come out of their comfort zone to be able to have a dream career,” Ganai said—urging students to improve on their previous performance as building a dream career depended on excelling at each and every stage.
The Advisor said Schools and Colleges can play a vital role in transforming the educational scenario of the State. He said good schooling changes a child and the years of school transform that child’s future. He emphasized that a generation of children—armed with education would lift up their nation. He said that Governor’s administration was focused and aimed to give a renewed push to the “mission on delivering governance” to bring Jammu and Kashmir back on course.
“Governor sahib has rightly guided that it must be our collective priority should be to reach-out to the people of Jammu and Kashmir to mitigate their problems through good governance and address their developmental concerns with outcome-based action,” Ganai said.
Advisor to the Governor, K. Vijay Kumar, who was guest of honor on the occasion, in his motivational speech, said that teachers were braving all odds and delivering positively for the development of the State’s educational scenario.
“Despite all odds, on the ground, weather, the situation, law and order around you, teaching fraternity is going ahead braving all odds,” he said.
“You (teachers) know which direction to go and you all are moving ahead with positive outlook,” he said.
He told aspirants to look upto their teachers—who are into the noble profession—who aren’t only into a job but building the bricks and laying the foundation of strong structure in the form of the bright students.
“Every journey begins with a small step. Be a master of what you have picked up or what you have chosen for yourself as career,” he told the students. “You can excel in every filed—only if you want, only if you the will, only if you remain focused and determined,” he said.
The Advisors were flanked by Director, National Institute of Technology, (NIT), Srinagar, Dr Rakesh Sehgal, Vice-Chancellor, Cluster University of Kashmir, Shiekh Javed.
Later Ganai along with the officials inaugurated and visited various Career Counseling stations at the Career Counseling Mela. The stations were set up by various departments including Jammu and Kashmir Skill Development Mission, J&K Bank, EDI, ITI among others.
Earlier, Director, Directorate of School Education, Kashmir (DSEK) Dr.G.N.Itoo said, that these programmes have been started for the engagement of youth DSEK—saying the main motivation behind such initiative in 2015 was that the students of Kashmir have little opportunities for their career building due to the prevailing circumstances.
He said that this initiative has provided students a level playing field to compete with the students outside the valley to crack different prestigious professional entrance examinations. He said that the programme benefited the meritorious students especially who belong to Economically Weaker Section & those who reside in the far off places.
In his presentation, Dr.Itoo gave a detailed sketch of various programmes, run by the Directorate.
“We provide Super-50 Free Tutorials for IIT-JEE/AIPMT/CET/NEET & other Allied Competitive Examinations,” he said, adding that a programme of free coaching for different competitive examinations like IIT-JEE/AIPMT/CET/NEET has been a success since its launch in 2015.
This programme has benefited all the meritorious students’ especially a disadvantageous lot.
In this programme, applications are invited from students who have appeared in 12th class examination and those students who have passed class 12th examination.
He informed that every district has been given a centre (13 Centres in Kashmir Division) and 100 students (50 for Medical & 50 for Engineering) are selected for each district by way of Screening Test conducted in all districts headquarters. The services of best and experienced tutors from the department are made available for the selected students.
Pertinently, the programme runs for four months till March 31st. Further, from the year 2017-18, DSEK collaborated with CHINAR International NGO and Avanti Learning centres—a nationally recognised Coaching Institute which facilitated online lectures and Periodical Online Assessment Tests, Subject specific Training of Tutors and provision of Learning Material prepared by Harvard University & IITians.
The Director said that students were given free study material which will be repeated this year as the finance is available. He said that this programme is financially supported by MHRD through Samagra Shiksha.
One centre at GHSS Kothibagh is kept for the students where an expert faculty is made available for them besides the guest lectures from the IAS KAS toppers and other experts.
The officials informed under Super-50 Free Tutorials for Civil Services, DSEK guide students for cracking different civil service examinations. “A Comprehensive FREE Preparatory Coaching Programme Civil Services / CLAT / BA, LLB/ BBA / BA Journalism / IIM / JNU Admission / John Stefan’s Collage / Admission to Foreign Universities like American Universities, London Universities etc,” he said. He said that applications are invited from students who have appeared in class 12th and the candidates who are graduates from different streams. Then a screening test is held in all the districts and 100 candidates are selected at divisional level.
Meanwhile students appreciated the Directorate of School, Education, and Kashmir— saying that the session was informative, persuasive and motivating.
“Such interactive sessions always help us to keep on track and figure out how to go about making a career choice,” students said. (KNS)
