Jammu, Dec 09 (KNS): Passing out parade of 2nd batch of Jail warders was held at Institute of correctional Services Mishriwala here today
Director General of Police and Prisons Dilbag Singh was the chief guest on the occasion. On his arrival the Chief Guest was presented ceremonial guard of honour.
In his address the DGP congratulated the pass outs on the successful completion of their basic training. He appreciated all jail officers and said that they were doing a sensitive job very professionally. He said that training has made the pass outs very confident which will help them in their career.
He advised the trainees to work in accordance to the oath taken by them & said that he expects them to observe high standards of discipline and integrity which are important values for members of the belt forces.
DGP said that women trainees deserve special praises for bagging prizes. He said that we are focusing on the overall development of Prisons department including this training institute. He said that proposals were submitted to government for the development of the department. Some have been approved and some are under consideration, said the DGP.
Dilbag Singh said that we also have to focus on the rehabilitation of prisoners for which skill development and manufacturing sections in the jails shall be further augmented in the state. He disclosed that Bhaderwah jail will be ready shortly for commissioning. Two more jails one each at Kargil and Ramban are being established.
A memento was presented to the Director General from the Institute of Correctional Services as a Memorabilia.
Earlier, Principal of the Institute Saba Shawl welcomed the chief guest. She gave brief resume of the training given to the pass outs. She said that special courses on different jail emergencies including one on stress management were organised for the trainees. For physical and mental health, yoga courses were also held. She said that active pedagogic methods like brain storming, role plays, case studies, guided interaction were part of six month training course.
The DGP also presented certificates of achievement and trophies to outstanding performers which included Warder Vikas Gupta (Indoor and All Round Best), Warder Sumir Sharma (Outdoor Best). He also announced cash rewards to these top performers.
DGP also distributed certificates among other pass outs.
Prominent among others who attended the Ceremony were DIG Prisons Dr M.S. Lone, Sr. Superintendents Javeed Fazili, Dinesh Sharma, Superintendent Central Jail Jammu-Rajni Sehgal, Superintendent District Jail Udhampur Harish Kotwal and Superintendent District Jail Kathua Mushtaq Ahmed Malla.
A colourful cultural programme having items on patriotism, national integration and light music was also presented on the occasion. (KNS)
