Threatens to lockdown all division, offices on Sep 27 across Kashmir

Srinagar, Sep 24 (KNS): Public Health Engineering Joint Employees Association leadership on Monday staged a demonstration against what they termed as the government’s delaying tactics over releasing their pending wages since last 21 months.
The association leadership led by its Kashmir division president, Sajad Ahmad Parray while carrying banners and placards assembled here at Srinagar’s Press Enclave and raised slogans against the government.
Sajad told reporters that from last 21 months, the casual labourers and land donors have been left on God’s mercy as the government has failed to release their wages, thus leaving them to suffer.
He said that the wages of daily wagers and ITI workers are also withheld from last five months due to unknown reasons, thus leaving all the employees to lurch at large.
“The government must release our wages at an earliest so that the employees could heave a sigh of relief,” he said, adding that from several months, the government is using delaying tactics to withhold their wages for unknown reasons, lamenting that the families of thousands of PHE employees are being pushed towards starvation.
He said that it has been decide that all the daily wagers, casual labourers, ITI workers and land donors will lockdown their respective divisions and offices on Sep 27 (Thursday) to protest against the delaying tactics of the government.
Sajad said that from last two months, the file regarding the release of wages is gathering dust at Finance department but the officials are paying no heed to the sufferings of employees, which is unfortunate.
The association leadership further appealed the state administration to fulfill their demands at an earliest. The protesters later dispersed peacefully. (KNS)
