Srinagar, Dec 21 (KNS): Senior Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader and former Parliamentarian Dr. Mehboob Beg, has called upon his party-men to strengthen the party. The PDP has a historical background for being the only platform that gave voice to the people by providing the only viable and credible alternative to the people of Jammu & Kashmir. The party has a clear agenda and never compromised on preserving the ‘Kashmiri identity’, remarked Dr. Beg.
In a statement issued to KNS, Dr.Beg further said that the PDP had put everything in writing in the Agenda of Alliance and anybody who would peruse the document would see how the best interests of the people formed the very basis of this document.
Mehbooba Mufti’s skills as an opposition leader have never been in doubt, but she proved her mettle while governing as well. The mighty and brazen government of India was made to agree and thousands of cases against the ‘protestors’ were withdrawn, the government of India led by Narendra Modi was made to announce a unilateral ceasefire, cations like these go against the very DNA of the BJP, but Mehbooba Mufti made them do it. Ram Madhav himself accepted that the BJP did not find Mehbooba Mufti’s functioning to their liking and were forced to withdraw support. Had Mehbooba Mufti made compromises, she would be sitting on the Chief Minister’s chair at the moment, remarked Dr.Beg.
The mayhem that the state has been witnessing ever since Mehbooba Mufti resigned, is ample proof of what the BJP led central government’s Kashmir policy was, it was Mehbooba Mufti and the PDP that was not only preventing them from doing so but was making them take people centric decisions. The PDP has made it amply clear that there is no alternative to ‘talks’ and such ‘talks’ should include the Hurriyat as well as Pakistan, concluded Dr.Beg. (KNS)
