Demands statehood back to J&K

Srinagar, Dec 22 (KNS): Peoples Democratic Front (PDF) on Sunday demanded unconditional release of all political leaders of Kashmir lodged in sub-jails and their houses.
In a statement to KNS a spokesperson of the PDF said the prolonged detention of political leadership has created a wide disconnect between people and their political representatives “due to which common people are facing terrible hardships to highlight their day to day problems for their redressal.
In a statement issued to KNS the PDF spokesman while urging the authorities to release detained political leaders, he said, “It was imperative to restore confidence to the people who are reeling under a constant wave of uncertainty post revocation of Article 370. It doesn’t augur well for a great democratic country like India to suppress the voice of its people.”
“In view of prevailing situation in the whole country, it was urgent to initiate the process of reconciliation and mass contact to win hearts and minds of the people of Jammu and Kashmir as they have been constant victims of betrayals since 1947,” he said.
“Sincere efforts were needed to address the alienation of people by winning their confidence,” the spokesperson said and demanded restoration of statehood to J&K without any further delay.
He said release of detained political leaders would go a long way to help the people of Kashmir in solving their problems. “Like violence was no solution to any problem, in the same way strangulating the voice of people and usurping their democratic rights was also no solution to any problem. In fact solution to every problem lies in dialogue and reconciliation,” the spokesperson maintained. (KNS)
