Project Director ICDS passes on the buck to district social welfare officer Kulgam

Srinagar, Oct 19 (KNS): The orphans undergoing education at Markazi Falahi Itfal centre Manzgam village of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district run by the Jammu and Kashmir Social welfare department are suffering for the want of proper drinking water facilities, adequate accommodation, proper bedding facilities and other avenues.
As per KNS correspondent, Syed Zahoor Indraabi, Markazi Falahi Itfal centre Manzgam run by the J&K social welfare department established for the welfare of orphans sans drinking water facilities, adequate accommodation, bedding facilities and other avenues for the 41 orphans presently undergoing schooling at this Itfal centre.
When contacted District Project Officer ICDS Kulgam Laiq Parvez told KNS that presently the centre is being looked after by the social welfare department but not the ICDS wing of the department and funds have to be made available by the district social welfare officer Kulgam for the facilities to be provided at the Markazi Falahi Itfal centre Manzgam Kulgam. “We have written to the project director ICDS for transferring the administrative control of this Itfal centre to ICDS and till a decision from the higher authorities the district social welfare officer has to take care of the facilities at this Itfal centre.
Chairman Child Welfare Committee Kulgam Bashir Ahmad Khan told KNS “the issue was raised many a times even during video conferencing with the administrative secretary at SKICC but the issue was not resolved. We seek the intervention of Governor for immediate resolution of the issues coming in the way of availability of required facilities at this Itfal centre.” (KNS)
