‘No cosmetic measures can prove fruitful’

Srinagar, Nov 25 (KNS): Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) has said that India should take concrete political steps to resolve the longstanding Kashmir dispute instead of using deceptive and oppressive measures to crush the just struggle of freedom loving Kashmiri people.
The party in a statement issued to KNS said that no oppressive measure can work in resolving the Kashmir dispute which is deeply rooted in history.
“No cosmetic measures or financial packages can prove fruitful unless a bold political step is initiated by the government of India. Kashmiri people have rendered tremendous sacrifices for seeking their political rights and no power can make them surrender not even the ongoing coercive approach of India,” they said.
Talking about the plight of political prisoners in different jails, the statement said that these people need immediate attention of human rights organisation of international level so that their troubles are addressed which include suitable and immediate medical aid.
The party again expressed serious concern over the failing health of its incarcerated chairman, Shabir Ahmad Shah in Tihar jail and said that further delay in medical aid to the ailing leader will prove very disastrous.
The party expressed anguish that administration is using harsher approach towards the political activities and does not even allow to raise voice peacefully. The police have been given free hand to beat political activists even in police stations and use force blindly.
Terming the human rights situation of Kashmir very catastrophic the party said that hundreds of Kashmiris have been placed behind bars on one pretext or the other only to silence the people. (KNS)
