One way traffic plies on Srinagar-Jammu national highway on Thursday

Srinagar, Jan 09 (KNS): Authorities on Monday allowed stranded vehicles to ply on Srinagar-Jammu national highway, which was partially reopened on Wednesday after remaining closed for two days.

A Traffic police official told KNS that stranded vehicles were allowed to move after the highway was cleared  of snow.

He advised the passengers to contact respective traffic control units (TCU) before starting journey on the highway. “Passengers are requested not to start their journey from either side of the road, till the highway is completely cleared of debris,” the official said.

It is worth to mention here that the highway was closed for the vehicular movement on Wednesday after snowfall in the area.

 The road got blocked several times from November 5 last year and the result the commuters face huge problems to reach their destinations.

Due to frequent closer of highway the prices of essential goods in Kashmir valley has raised several times. (KNS)
