IGP says grenade thrower arrested, was tasked by Hizb militant

Srinagar, Mar 07 (KNS): One person was killed while 32 others sustained injuries on Thursday in a grenade blast in Jammu region.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Range, MK Sinha said that one person identified as Sharik, son of Intezaar of Haridwar was killed while 32 others have sustained injuries in the grenade blast that took place near bust stand in at around 11:50 am. IGP further stated that 11 among the injured are from Kashmir province while 10 are from Jammu, adding that nine persons hail from others states while as two are still unidentified.
He added that soon after the attack, police was put on high alert to nab the attack, following which a police party headed by Station House officer (SHO) Nagrota during checking near Nagrota toll post apprehended one person, identified as Yasir Javid Bhat of Halpora.
He said after questioning, Yasir confessed that he carried out the blast in Jammu. IGP further added that it also came to fore that Farooq Ahmad Bhat alias Umar had tasked Yasir to carry out the attack in Jammu.
Sinha said Yasir after lobbing the grenade immediately escaped the spot. (KNS)
