Jammu, Jan 23 (KNS): National Conference President Dr Farooq Abdullah and Vice President Omar Abdullah on Wednesday expressed grief over the demise of Ch Akhtar Hussain Khattana, Block President and a veteran Gujjar leader.
The mortal remains of Ch Khattana, who breathed his last early this morning, were laid to rest at Gujjar Nagar Graveyard here this afternoon.
Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah, Additional General Secretary, Dr Sheikh Mustafa Kamal, senior party leaders and a large number of people participated in Namaz-e-Janaza.
In their statements, Dr Farooq and Omar Abdullah described Ch Khattana a dedicated leader, who worked tirelessly in strengthening the party for decades and served the people, especially the Gujjar community with a sense of commitment. They conveyed their condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for peace to the departed soul.
Earlier, National Conference Provincial President Devender Singh Rana and senior party leaders visited the residence of Ch Khattana at Panama Chowk here to condole his demise. They prayed for peace to the departed soul and strength to the family in bearing this irreparable loss.
Senior party leaders recalled the contribution of Ch Khattana in different capacities. (KNS)
