VC expresses his readiness to hold events on skill development in varsity

Srinagar, Nov 12 (KNS): A two-day National Seminar on ‘Education Reforms and Innovations: a step to change’ started here at University of Kashmir (KU) on Monday.
The seminar which is being celebrated as 10th National Education Day commemorating the birth anniversary of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad is organised by Department of Education KU.
Vice Chancellor KU Prof Talat Ahmed who was the chief guest on the occasion, expressed his readiness to hold events on skill development in the varsity.
“There is a dire need of bringing skill oriented reforms in education system that would provide an impetus to students thereby strengthening their intellectual and technological capacities,” said Prof Talat.
Renowned educationist Prof. AG Madhosh who was guest of honour on the occasion while highlighting the importance of association of training and skill with education made a reference to how countries like China and Japan work on skill development.
“It was the vision of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad to see youth acquiring skills and for translating his vision into reality he introduced many technical reforms in the sector of education,” said Prof Madhosh.
He also said that there is a dire need of “engineering” “eachers” behaviors with students so that the delivery of knowledge becomes a valuable experience.
“The onus of rectifying a student’s vulnerabilities lies on the effectiveness of the transference of knowledge, on which our teachers and institutions should collectively work,” added Prof Madhosh.
Dean, School of Education and Behavioural Sciences, Prof Mohammad Iqbal Mattoo in his key note address congratulated the Department of education for holding the event and emphasized the role of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad in improving educational status of the country.
A short documentary based on the life achievements and contributions of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad was also screened on the occasion. (KNS)
