Srinagar, Sep 24 (KNS): National Conference Central Working Committee (CWC) started its two day long marathon meeting in Srinagar with full endorsement of the party’s core group decision for boycotting municipal and panchayat elections and most of the members blamed the government for showing its desperateness in issuing a notification for panchayat polls which could have been issued by October end or early November.
Top sources while disclosing this to KNS revealed that the members of the central working committee and special invitees called for the meeting after threadbare discussion on the announcement of municipal and panchayat elections in the state endorsed equivocally the core groups decision for boycotting municipal and panchayat elections.
Sources said that the members also said that government showed its desperateness by issuing the notification for even panchayat polls which could have been issued after the conclusion of municipal elections by October end or early November.
“Not even a single participant in the meeting raised even a single objection on the core groups decision for boycotting municipal and panchayat elections in the state and instead hailed the decision taken already by the highest decision making body of the party”, sources added.
Sources further said that question of fielding any proxy candidate from the party does not arise at all as workers at the grass root level have conveyed their willingness to stay away from both municipal and panchayat elections in the state. (KNS)
