Says ‘hope Erdogan will continue to play his role in ending HR abuses in Kashmir

Srinagar, Jun 25 (KNS): The incarcerated chairman of Hurriyat Conference (M) Mirwaiz Umar Farooq felicitated the Turkish president Rajab Tayib Erdogan on behalf of the people of Kashmir, for being re-elected as the president of turkey stating that it is expected that Erdogan will continue to strongly support the people’s struggle for self determination in Kashmir the way he has been doing in the past. Mirwaiz said he is of the belief that Erdogan will also continue to play his role in ensuring the end to grave rights abuses taking place in Jammu and Kashmir
In a statement issued here, Mirwaiz, who has been placed under house detention, said that Turkey is well respected among the comity of nations and being the basic member of OIC Contact Group on Kashmir, turkey has always greatly supported and spearheaded our just cause.
Mirwaiz said that people of Kashmir and Palestine have high hopes from Turkey as this country has always advocated for the resolution of both the issues as per the wishes and aspirations of its people. He said that Erdogan has always taken a stand for Muslims globally.
Hurriyat (M) chairman said that people of Kashmir have been suffering on all accounts over the past seven decades witnessing the ultimate form of repression at the hands of lakhs of government forces of India. Mirwaiz said that the issue is already registered with the world’s highest body the UN and in forums like OIC which has time and again passed many resolutions that call for resolving the Kashmir dispute, but the obstinacy of New Delhi, continues to play spoil sport in resolution of one of the longest pending disputes.
Mirwaiz said that it is incumbent upon the world community to intervene to resolve this humanitarian and political dispute and end suffering of the people in Jammu and Kashmir and the prevailing uncertainty in the sub-continent
Meanwhile, APHC spokesman strongly condemned the house detention of its chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Senior Resistance leader Syed Ali Geelani, arresting Muhammad Yasin Malik and lodging him in police station Kothibagh, detaining APHC leader Mukhtar Ahmed Waza and lodging him in police station Sherbagh. The spokesman expressed serious concern over the indiscriminate firing of forces at Nadhihal, Sopore in which a young student Ubaid Manzoor was seriously injured. The APHC spokesman also condemned the forces operations across Kashmir stating that people are being harassed, tortured and showered with pellets and bullets under the garb of so called CASOs, which is highly condemnable.
