Militant arrested in Baramulla with grenade: Police

Srinagar, Nov 25 (KNS): Police on Wednesday claimed to have arrested a militant near Railway Station Baramulla and also ‘recovered’ a grenade from his possession.

Sources told KNS that police cordoned off Railway Station Baramulla after “specific inputs” that some militants were travelling to south Kashmir from Baramulla via train. “A search operation was carried in the area during which one person was arrested,” they said.

Station House Officer (SHO) Baramulla while confirming the arrest, told KNS that Umar Farooq son of Farooq Ahmad of Ferozpura, Rafiabad was planning to travel to south Kashmir via train when he was held. “From his (Umar’s) possession a grenade was also recovered,” he said.

Police have lodged FIR NO 182/2019 in this regard and started the investigations. (KNS)
