Srinagar, Nov 14 (KNS): A militant and an army soldier were killed in a day-long encounter in Nowbug Kund village of Devsar in Kulgam district even as search operation is going on, police said.
Inspector General of Police, Munir Khan told KNS that a militant identified as Muzamil Ahmad of Badroo village of Yaripora in Kulgam district.
The IGP said, “One army soldier was martyred in the encounter.”
He said that the slain militant belonged to Lashkar-e-Toiba and was active for over four years.
Khan said that the search operation is going on as the area is forest area.
The encounter started today morning after security forces laid a cordon and search operation in Kund area’s forests after inputs of presence of militants.
Police said that a militant hideout was busted in Laam village of Tral area in Pulwama district during cordon and search operation.
The police said that no contact was established with militants. (KNS)
