Mehbooba shifted to ministerial bungalow near Banquet Hall

Srinagar, Nov 15 (KNS): Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President and former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Mehbooba Mufti, who was undergoing detention at CheshmaShahi guest house since August 5, has been shifted to a ministerial bungalow near Banquet Hall in Srinagar, sources told KNS.

Mehbooba and two other former CMs, Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah, are among dozens of high profile mainstream politicians, who were detained by the authorities after the Center abrogated J&K’s special status under Article 370 and abrogated the erstwhile state into two union territories on August 5.

While Omar has been lodged at Hari Niwas Palace, Farooq Abdullah is detained at his Gupkar residence. “Mehbooba was shifted from CheshmaShahi guest house on Friday and has been lodged in a ministerial bungalow opposite Sangarmal Shopping Complex in Srinagar,” sources revealed.

A senior official while confirming the development told KNS there were no proper hearing arrangements at CheshmaShahi guest house due to which the shifting was necessary.

“Due to recent snowfall, there was also disruption of power supply to CheshmaShahi area due to which the shifting became necessary. In the coming days political leaders lodged at Centaur hotel-turned-sub-jail will also be shifted to other places in view of cold wave conditions,” he revealed. (KNS)
