Says ‘punishing AMU students for remembering their colleague will be a travesty’

Srinagar, Oct 15 (KNS): Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president and former chief minister Mehbooba Mufti on Monday sought the intervention of central government for withdrawal of cases against the Kashmiri students at Aligarh Muslim University and called upon the state governments to show sensitivity to the situation for preventing further alienation of the Kashmiri students undergoing studies in different states of the country.
Taking to micro blogging social networking website twitter, Mehbooba wrote “Pushing youth to the wall will be counterproductive. Centre must intervene in withdrawing cases against students & AMU authorities must revoke their suspension. The respective State governments outside JK should be sensitive to the situation & prevent further alienation.”
In yet another tweet Mehbooba said “It will be a travesty to punish them for remembering their former colleague who was a victim of relentless violence in Kashmir.” (KNS)
