Sgr-Jmu highway thrown open for one way traffic

Srinagar, Mar 01 (KNS): As the weather remained cloudy today, the local Meteorological department (MeT) on Friday predicted light to moderate rains and snowfall in the Valley from today evening.
Talking to Kashmir News Service (KNS), Deputy Director MeT Mukhtar Ahmad said the plains would receive light to moderate rains fall from today late evening or tomorrow early morning.
He also said there is possibility of snowfall in higher reaches from today late evening. “The weather would remain wet till Sunday evening while as the weather conditions would improve from Monday here,” he said.
He added the Valley would receive rains and snowfall intermittently during this period.
Mukhtar said temperature following the fresh spell of rain and snowfall would go further down. “The temperature would increase once the weather conditions improve,” he said.
Meanwhile, after remaining closed for couple of days, the Srinagar-Jammu highway was thrown open today for one way traffic from Srinagar-Jammu.
The highway remained closed for almost four consecutive days after landslides occur on Ramban to Banihal road especially at Mompassi area.
Officials told KNS that after clearing road from the debris of landslides, the authorities allowed traffic from Srinagar-Jammu today.
Earlier the authorities allowed stranded passengers first to clear the highway, they said. (KNS)
