‘Thousands of Kashmiris being tortured in jails’

Srinagar, Nov 26 (KNS): Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), Muhammad Yasin Malik Sunday condemned the ‘ongoing oppression’ unleashed by army, police and other forces throughout the Valley,
In a statement issued to KNS, Malik termed the booking of a specially-abled boy Umar Yousef of Islamabad under PSA and shifting him to Khutwa Jail and slapping PSA on another boy Khrushid Ahmad Wani of Hallan Verinagh and shifting him to Khutwa jail from hospital as glaring example of ‘criminal and oppressive mindset’ of rulers and their police and civil authorities.
Malik said that on one hand they talk of amnesty and on the other hand are busy in filling jails and police stations with more and more Kashmiris.
JKLF chairman said that the height of shamelessness of rulers and their police is such that a young boy Khrushid Ahmad Wani was admitted in hospital where doctors removed sutures from his kidney but on the same day he was forcibly discharged from hospital and shifted to Khatwa jail where jail authorities refused to take him in custody. “This is the real face of RSS backed Mehbooba regime and this shows the real Anti-Kashmiri mindset of these power hungry politicians,” asserted Malik.
He said that thousands of people are languishing in jails and are facing worst kind of apathy and torture at the hands of oppressive forces and international community especially ICRC needs to look into these human rights violations and enhance its efforts to save the lives of Kashmiri inmates.
Condemning the arrest of JKLF district president Bashir Ahmad Rather (Boya), Ghulam Geelani Rather, Fayaz Ahmad Mir and Mushtaq Ahmad Wani and also nocturnal raids on JKLF vice chairman Showkat Ahmad Bakshi, Malik termed it as worst police-Gardi. (KNS)
