Says Govt, forces' statements poles apart

Srinagar, Mar 08 (KNS): Former chief minister and National Conference (NC) working president, Omar Abdullah on Thursday said that the statement from Government and security forces over Shopian killings are contrary.
Talking to reporters at Anantnag, Omar accused government of putting this issue into cold storage, saying that as CM and forces have made two different statements over Shopian killings, people want that facts should be made public.
“I am surprised about Govt’s statement in Supreme Court over Shopian killings,” he said, adding that “CM had made commitments inside assembly, saying that the investigation will be taken to the logical conclusion. What happens to her commitments?”
Pertinently, police had registered a case against an Army Major allegedly involved in the killing of youth in Ganawpora area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district.
The case was stayed by the Supreme Court after his father approached the court. (KNS)
