MY Town My Pride’ received overwhelming response across Kashmir


Srinagar October 22(KNS) In a bid to give flip to the various developmental activities and to rejuvenate Towns , the Department of Housing and Urban Development, Jammu and Kashmir had organized a 2-day much awaited public outreach programme “My Town My Pride” on 19th and 20th of October. The programme conducted was aimed to initiate an effective public outreach, to take the service delivery at the doorsteps of citizen and to strengthen the grassroot democracy. It was conducted in all 40 ULB’s across the Kashmir in which the Administrative officers of all ranks were deployed to inaugurate the developmental activities executed by the department under various centrally sponsored schemes, besides the foundation laid for the other developmental works which are to be executed. During the programme a total number of 77 works have been identified involving tentative cost of Rs. 1319.14 Lacs were inaugurated and new foundations for 62 works at an estimated cost of Rs. 1186.39 Lacs were laid. While as under the “Housing for All” scheme 517 ineligible beneficiaries were weeded out during the programme whereas 559 new beneficiaries were identified and on the occasion 101 demo keys and 135 demo cheques were also issued. In order to give momentum to the sports activities during the programme, an overall 86 sports event were held at various venues and at the culmination of each sports activities almost 191 sports kits were distributed among the sportspersons.
The programme “My Town My Pride” also encompassed the grievances redressal, where the visiting officers gave their patient listening to the genuine grievances put forth by the common people. Almost 645 grievances were received and among these, 235 were disposed of on the spot where as 418 were forwarded for the next course of action. The visiting officials also took care of smooth and hassle distribution of service delivery and other allied distributions. During the programme 1990, 197 and 27 numbers of Domicile, Birth and Death Certificates were respectively issued. Besides this 558 Revenue Registration Papers have also been issued by the Revenue Department. The Programme witnessed overwhelming response from inhabitants of the towns and would augument in creating an impressive connect with the people. The Director Urban Local Bodies Riyaz Ahmad Wani visited various ULB’s for successful conduct of the programme.(KNS)
