MHA honours personnel on 63rd Civil Defence & Home Guards Annual Day


New Delhi, Dec 9 (KNS): The Ministry of Home Affairs on Thursday announced the DG Disc and Commendation Certificate awards for personnel of Civil Defence and Home Guards from various States, Union Territories (UTs), and Departments on the occasion of the 63rd Annual Day of Civil Defence & Home Guards, celebrated on December 6.

The DG Disc, awarded for dedication and devotion to duty, was conferred in three categories – Gold, Silver, and Bronze. The awards recognise exceptional service, leadership, and contributions towards strengthening operational preparedness and rescue capabilities.

In the Home Guards category, the Gold Disc was awarded to two personnel. Masroor Adhmad Mir, Commandant of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) from Jammu & Kashmir, was recognised for his exemplary leadership and service. Ferdinand Suchiang, Naik from Meghalaya, was also conferred the Gold Disc.

Eleven personnel received the Silver Disc in the Home Guards category, including Suman Dhaka, Commandant from Rajasthan; Shantilal Maruti Ninave, Platoon Commander from Maharashtra; and  Kamlesh Chandra Gautam, Personal Assistant Grade-2 from Uttar Pradesh. The Bronze Disc was awarded to 94 personnel for meritorious service.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelNotable recipients included Manish Kumar Agrawal, DIG of Police from Madhya Pradesh, and Dr. Prafull Virjibhai Shiroya, Commandant General from Gujarat.

In the Civil Defence category, two individuals were awarded the Silver Disc. Sushant Kumar Pattanaik, Civil Defence Volunteer from Odisha, and John Aguiar, Civil Defence Warden from Goa, were recognised for their contributions. The Bronze Disc was conferred on 46 Civil Defence personnel across various States and Departments. Key recipients included Swarn Singh, Chief Warden, Civil Defence, Jammu & Kashmir; Sh. Popat Bayaji Bhangare, Fireman-Rescuer from Maharashtra; and Brijesh Sureshbhai Shah, Deputy Chief Warden from Gujarat. Personnel from the Railway Department were also among the awardees.

The Ministry of Home Affairs congratulated all recipients for their exceptional commitment and dedication to duty. Directorates have been requested to verify details and provide corrections to the Directorate General, Civil Defence office by December 20, 2025.

The awards aim to encourage and motivate personnel to continue providing dedicated service in disaster management, rescue operations, and civil defence activities across the country.(KNS)
