Handwara , Mar 04 (KNS): In a dramatic turn of event, Handwara Municipal Committee Chairman Masroor Banday lost the confidence on the floor of the house after majority of councilors voted against him, here today.
In the 13-member, 10 members, moved a no confidence motion against Banday.
All the 10 councilors had demanded that chairman should immediately be removed from his post as he had lost their confidence.
The concerned officer said that they will write a letter to the Deputy commissioner Kupwara regarding the development.
The day's proceedings started at 10 am at Municipal Committee hall where almost all the councilors had come to decide the fate of chairman.
After this, returning officer adopted the voting process in which Masroor Banday secured three votes out of 13.
Interestingly, 13 councilors had moved the no confidence motion against him however only 10 councilors voted against him.
After this, the charge of chairman was assigned to MC's vice-chairman Bashir Ahmad till further order. The date to choose the new chairman will be announced soon.(KNS).
