Srinagar, Nov 13 (KNS): The Moulana Anwar Shah Kashmiri Hostel here in collaboration with University Administration on Monday celebrated the National Education Day 2018 on the theme, “‘Role of university in the era of the global village” with the students, scholars, and academicians of Kashmir University. Students and scholars from different departments participated in the quiz and debate organized during the programme organized by Proctor MAK hostel Mir Suheel Rasool.The programme was convened by Dr. Mehrajudin of Sanskrit Department.
Prof G N Khaki Chairman Centre of Central Asian Studies and Provost Boys Hotels who was Chief Guest chaired the programme with an introduction to the significance of the day. He highlighted the role of the university in development ethics and moral development of society.“Students and scholars should employ their learning experiences in developing the proper ethics and morality in outside society,” Said Prof Khaki.
Chief Proctor Prof Naseer Iqbal who was Guest of Honour on the occasion pointed out that the objective of celebrating National Education Day is to strengthen our educational institutions and to raise the quality of education to greater heights. He said “Scholars and Students of the university should  move to outside national and international educational institutes to use their expertise qualitatively”
Prof Iqbal said there should be a set of scales between university, scholars and outside world.
 Programme Convenor and Warden MAK hostel while speaking on the occasion said that there should be connectivity between University and state administration.
“Governments should utilize the serves of academicians for the better governance, peace, and stability,” said Prof Mehrajudin.
Proctor MAK Hostel Mir Suheel Rasool who welcomed the guests and conducted proceedings said that university has a pivotal role in good governance.Suheel said that peace can prevail if students and scholars get an opportunity in mainstream democratic processes.
“University, education, and scholarship can do wonders if involved in thriving democratic processes in any nation-state,” Suheel said.Umer Rashid Ganie Department of Electronics presented vote of thanks. Programme organized thanked Vice Chancellor Prof Talat Ahmed for his student-centric attitude. Later students and scholars who participated in the quiz were rewarded. (KNS)
