Three students, sports teacher bag top medals in Argentina

Srinagar, Nov 16 (KNS): Chinar Corps Commander, Lt Gen AK Bhatt on Friday felicitates medalists of world kick-boxing championship, which was held in Argentina.
At the recently concluded Championship in Argentina held from 05-10 November 2018, Master Hashim Ashraf and Master Aabid Hamid of Army Goodwill School Hanzik and Abrou Bashir and Irshad Ahmad Ganie of Army Goodwill School Bandipora achieved a tremendous feat by bagging top medals.
Master Aabid had a dream run in the Championship and bagged gold by outperforming his opponents.
In the closely contested finals, Master Hashim, Abrou and Irshad Ahmad Ganie bagged silver medals after losing by slender margins.
Master Aabid (15 yrs) and Master Hashim (15 yrs) are students of Class X at Army Goodwill School, Hanzik whereas Abrou Bashir (15 yrs) is a student of Class IX and Irshad Ahmad Ganie (26 yrs) is the sports teacher at Army Goodwill School Bandipora.
During the felicitation ceremony at BB Cantt, Srinagar, Lt Gen AK Bhatt, GOC 15 Corps, interacted with these players and their parents/relatives.
He congratulated them for their phenomenal achievement which has made to the nation proud.
The Chinar Corps commander also assured them continued support from the Army to help them achieve even greater laurels.
He appreciated the efforts of their parents, teachers and Kilo Force who spotted these young talents and facilitated these budding sportspersons by encouraging them and providing full assistance.
These students were trained and sponsored by their respective schools for representing India at the World Kickboxing Championship and they have been consistently performing well due to nurturing and support by their respective Army Goodwill schools.
“Their success is truly inspiring and will go a long way in motivating a number of young boys and girls to take up sports and fulfill their dreams,” Bhatt said. (KNS)
