Says scarcity of essentials due to gag on vehicular movement already throwing life out of gear in Kashmir

Srinagar, Apr 29 (KNS): Congress leader Kadfeen Choudhary on Monday urged the governor administration to ensure proper supply of essentials to Kashmir valley during Ramadan and said that the Highway gag being imposed twice every week is throwing life out of gear in Kashmir.

Kadfeen said that there are large scale apprehensions that the supply of essentials will be badly hit due to the ban on vehicular movement on national highway every Sunday and Wednesday. He added that the traders are already bearing the brunt of such a diktat and during the month of Ramadan, there are mounting fears of black marketing touching new heights. “The business fraternity in Kashmir is already reeling under the dreadful crises and is incurring unimaginable losses every day due the highway gag. With holy month of Ramadan approaching, the situation will become bad from worse,” said Kadfeen.

He said the government should at least take into consideration the reverence of the holy month of Ramadan and lift the gag on humanitarian grounds. Or else, said Kadfeen, the situation could turn catastrophic and will plunge the state into unending cycle of uncertainty.

The Congress leader further urged the government to ensure all the facilities which includes better power supply, buffer quantity of essential commodities, cleanliness and drinking water facility to the people during the holy month of Ramdan. He said that PDD should establish complaint calls in each area so that unscheduled power cut is avoided at any cost during the month. (KNS)
