Life limping back to normalcy in Kashmir

Srinagar, Nov 17 (KNS): Life has started limping back to normalcy in the Valley after over three months of spontaneous shutdown in the wake of New Delhi’s decision to abrogate the special status of Jammu and Kashmir under Article 370.

On Sunday huge rush of customers was witnessed at weekly flea market at Residency Road in Srinagar. There were huge traffic jams on Residency Road and MA Road as street vendors had set up their stalls on footpaths and even on roads.

The public transport too has gradually started to hit back on the roads across Kashmir while shopkeepers have started to re-open their businesses. In Lal Chowk, where shops used to remain open only during mornings, from the last one week, most of the business establishments remain open throughout the day.

Public transport which remained off the roads for over three months has also started to operate normally with intra and inter-district cab and bus service see plying on various routes. Intra-Kashmir train service too has resumed fully from Sunday.

However, pre-paid mobile phone and internet services continue to remain snapped across Kashmir. Post-paid mobile services and landlines were restored gradually till October 14 but without messaging facility. (KNS)
