Govt's Rural Electrification scheme brought no change to us: Locals

Langate, Jan 15 (KNS): The poor electricity carrying infrastructure in Sudergund Hangah village of Langate area in Kupwara is posing risk to the lives of people.
The residents of the village told Kashmir News Service (KNS), that due to unknown reasons the PDD officials have failed to set up proper electric poles in the villages. As seen the picture, the power lines are carrying on damaged wooden sticks which can at any point of time create a hovoc.
A local Bilal Khan expressing concern over it said since the inception of these transmission lines hardly any repairs have been done. At many places the electric wires have been made to pass through trees and tied with residential houses. The wires are decayed and fall only with a few inches of snowfall, he said.
Even though the much touted Rural Electrification (RE) scheme was launched decades before, it has brought no change on the ground here.
The locals demand the dire need of removal of damaged infra and replaced with proper electric poles and other infrastructure. (KNS)
