Bodies of four militants recovered: DGP

Srinagar, Mar 21 (KNS): The body of fourth militant was recovered from the encounter site at Halmatpora village in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district, police said on Wednesday.
Director General of Police (DGP), Shesh Pal Vaid had informed that the body of fourth militant was recovered from the gunfight site of Kupwara.
According to the KNS correspondent, the DGP had also informed that the firing is still going on.
“4th dead body of terrorist recovered from encounter site of Kupwara, firing still continues, unfortunately 2 brave hearts of J&K Police martyred & one of TA,” DGP tweeted.
However, Defense spokesman, Colonial Rajesh Kalia informed Kashmir News Service (KNS) that two Jammu and Kashmir policemen and two army troopers were killed in the gunfight.
Kalia soon after the DGP’s tweet informed the death of one more army man, saying that two Army soldiers and two SOG jawans were killed in the ongoing operations.
The slain policemen were identified as Deepak Pandit and Mohd Yusuf while one among the two slain Army troopers was identified as Mohammad Ashraf.
Pertinently, the encounter raged between the forces and militants in Halmatpora village in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Tuesday.
The gunfight was suspended on late Tuesday evening while the Army claimed that four militants were killed in the gunfight. (KNS)
