Kupwara Boy beaten to death in Rajasthan

Srinagar, Feb 05 (KNS): A young boy from Kunan Village of Kupwara in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district was allegedly beaten to death by group of youth during a brawl with them in Jaipur City of Rajastan.
 
 Reports reaching to Kashmir News Service (KNS) said that a young boy from Kupwara who was working with a catering management company in Jaipur since last couple of months.  On Wednesday when he was busy with his work at a party, the boys associated with another  management  company From Mumbai entered into the party and there was heating arguments between them and beat him ruthlessly which resulted in grievous injury to him.
 
Later his co workers took him to nearby SSM hospital for treatment, where succumbed to injuries today after battling for life for than 48 hours, his friend told KNS.
 
The deceased has been identified as Basit Ahmad Khan (18) son of late Khursheed Ahmad Khan, resident of Kunan Kupwara.
 
Meanwhile protests erupted in Kunan against the killings of Basit, who were demanding stern action against the accused persons.    
 
The family of the Basit termed his killing as murder and told KNS that they received a call from his friend that Basit is admitted in hospital and on Thursday he succumbed to his injuries, he said. 
 
Locals of the area said that Basit’s father was retired solider and died few years back.  He is survived by a mother and two minor sisters.
 
However SSP Kupwara Shriram Abbarkar told KNS that it was the brawl between the two individuals and they are in touch with the Jaipur police and the accused has been arrested.
 
 The investigation in this regard is going on, he added.
 
He clarified that it is not a hate crime and was a rivalry between the two catering companies.
 
The SSP said the Kupwara police and administration will financially help his family to get his body back for the last rites.
 
 He further added that post mortem of the body was done on Friday morning and his family members reached Jaipur to bring his body back
 
Police in this regard has also issued a statement which reads:  This is in reference to the reportage about death of an individual in Jaipur Rajasthan, regarding which certain media houses in their reports have attributed his death to lynching and group clashes. “
 
“In this regard it is clarified that the death of one individual identified as Basit Khan alias Ghulam Mohiudin of Kupwara happened after a scuffle with another person,” statement reads.
 
The deceased Basit was working in Jaipur as a caterer and had a fight with a co-worker, resulting in the injuries to Basit. He was taken to hospital where he succumbed, statement added.
 
The reportage circulating around his death due to lynching during the group clashes is factually incorrect and is strongly rebutted.
 
The senior officers from Jammu and Kashmir Police are in touch with the Rajasthan Police officials. Police in Jaipur have registered a case and the accused in this crime has been arrested.
