Srinagar, Nov 14 (KNS): Minister of state for Transport Sunil Kumar Sharma inaugurated a week long road safety week at Bus Stand Kishtwar. A prize distribution ceremony was also held for Drivers for having good track record throughout their Driving career.
Accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Angrez Singh Rana, Abrar Choudhary General Secretary State Minority Morcha Haji Tariq Hussain Keen, Sharma inaugurated the weeklong camp in presence of ARTO Kishtwar Abhay Indu Sharma, Tehsildar Kishtwar Phulail Singh Bandral, DYSSO Dewan Chand, Dysp DAR Manoj Kumar, and DySP Hqrs Nihar Ranjan.
The ARTO briefed about the activities being carried out in the district regarding road safety and the measures being adopted for directing transporters to follow the guidelines from the department time to time, as well as stressed upon the Tour operators, drivers and union leaders to follow the traffic rules to avoid any kind of mishap.
According to the KNS correspondent, the minister while speaking at the occasion said that organising programmes like this will be successful only, when people related to cause are going to follow the same.
He said violating traffic rules and negligent driving leads to mishaps.
He said the Transport department has been working for the betterment of people and in this regard it's the first department in the state which is fully computerised/online thus ending the Corruption by means of Technology.
Directing the administration and transport department, he said that there should be no room for the traffic violators and they should be dealt with iron hands
The minister also distributed helmets amongst the students driving two wheelers on daily basis and advised them for being cautious while driving on road with all safety gears on. (KNS)
