Baramulla, Nov 23 (KNS): General Officer Commanding 15 Corps Lt General A K Bhat on Friday termed the gunfight in Bijbehara Anantnag that resulted in the killing of six militants, including a Lashkar-e-Toiba commander, a “surgical operation”.
Saying that the operation was “prompt and precise”, the top army commander said, “It was a successful operation and forces didn’t suffer any damage in the operation”.
As per KNS correspondent Manzoor Sheeri, the GOC 15 Corps was talking to reporters on the sidelines of a function organised on the occasion of Gurpurab day at 46 RR camp in Baramulla.
When asked about the recent arrests of two women “over ground workers”, the GOC 15 Corps said that the duo had been used by militants in the past.
Asking women not to restrain from taking up army, the top army Commander said “though 200 militants have been killed in last one year but our focus is on restoration of peace and order in Jammu and Kashmir like other states of the country but not the number of militants killed”.
Saying that involving civilians in the encounter is the indication of weakness, the GOC said “We will neutralize militants whenever and wherever we find them.” (KNS)
