Khajuria interact with children at Gurez

Gurez, Jun 17 (KNS): Rajeev Khajuria, Member Selection cum Oversight Committee (SCOC) under JJ act interacted with children of the Gurez in Bandipora District Kashmir valley. He was speaking in an awareness programme on child protection organised by Child Welfare Committee Bandipora at PWD Dak Bungalow, Gurez in collaboration with Police station Gurez. G.H. Mohd. Mir member CWC Bandipora gave brief intro and welcomed the guest. He thanked Khajuria for visiting backward and border areas of the valley. Sohana Akther CWC member and Tariq SHO Gurez also spoke on the occasion. Principal higher secondary and other sectorial officers and large number of children attended the program.

Rajeev Khajuria sensitized the children on child rights with special focus on child protection. He said that child protection is integrally linked to all other rights of the children Viz. Survival, Development and Participation. He called upon the children to know about their rights and voice for their realization on ground. He also gave a detailed overview of JJ Act and Child Labour Act and informed the house that CWC and JJ boards are functional at district Headquarter and are dedicated by working to address the issue of children. He also cautioned children to be aware of the duties when we talk of rights. He discussed Do’s and Don’ts for not becoming children in conflict with law and appealed the student of community to discourage bullying and other activities which have potential to make them juvenile in conflict with law.

Khajuria thanked CWC Bandipora and Police Station Gurez for organizing the event. He also appealed the state government to enhance the generator power supply and improve the infra and connectivity so that children and women can realize their rights to live with dignity. Earlier, Khajuria accompanied by CWC members G.M. Mir and Ms. Sohana Akther visited the far flung border belts of Sheikpora and Tulail and interacted with children and families. (KNS)
