MeT predicts improvement in weather conditions from tomorrow

Srinagar, Jan 12 (KNS): The fresh snowfall in the intervening night of Friday-Saturday threw life in Kashmir out of gear as the Srinagar-Jammu highway remained closed for the traffic while as the air traffic was also suspended in view of the fresh snowfall.
The local Meteorological department (MeT) earlier predicted a fresh snowfall till January 13 (Sunday) afternoon, saying that there is possibility of snowfall across the Valley till January 13 while as another snow spell will be experienced in between Jan 19-20.
Normal life was disrupted today across the Valley with authorities ordered closure of Srinagar-Jammu highway in view of the fresh snowfall that triggered slippery condition of the roads.
The airline authorities also suspended the air traffic in view of the prevailing weather conditions and poor visibility with officials saying that the flights scheduled to and from Kashmir were suspended in this morning.
Traffic officials while talking to KNS said that due to the slippery conditions of the roads triggered by the fresh snowfall, the traffic on 300 km long Srinagar-Jammu highway was closed for the vehicular movement.
The officials in the MeT predicted improvement in the weather conditions from tomorrow afternoon, saying that adequate snowfall is predicted in this month as another snow spell would likely be experienced in between Jan 19-20. (KNS)
