Srinagar, Jul 07 (KNS): Even as the Governor Administration canceled the KVIB selection list after nearly two years of its examination, a new twist to the tail has emerged as Controller examination and then law secretary had already conveyed the CID department about the “unfairness” of the exams, asking it to conduct an “in-depth probe” to ascertain the validity of the exercise.

KNS has learnt from reliable sources that soon after the examination for the said posts were finished, the then law Secretary Ab. Majeed who was designated as Controller for the said examinations had raised his doubt on its fairness after receiving feedback from the Administrative Secretary Industries and Commerce and from other quarters. The controller according to sources, had even went ahead and asked IGP, Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to conduct an in-depth probe into the conduct of exams - which, as per sources laid the foundation for termination of the whole selection list by the governor.

KNS is in possession of the letter written by the senior bureaucrat to IG, CID which reveals that he (Controller) had not visited majority of the exam centers due to his tight schedule as law secretary, giving ample space to others to manipulate the exercise to the best of their advantage.

“Due to paucity of time and engagements in the office as secretary of law, I could not visit the examination centers during the examination except on 6th Aug, at Jammu centers only. However, all the requisite arrangements were made for supervisory staff and observers for the conducting the examination. There are some complaints against the examination process, that same was not fair as Administrative Secretary Industries and Commerce department also requested for the same verbally to me. It is as such requested to make an in-depth verification in the matter." Reads the letter of then law Secretary to IG, CID vide No.PS/LS/2017-27 dated 94-09-2027, a copy of which lies with KNS.

Sources also told this news agency that the law secretary was not happy with the way the exam was conducted hence wanted a thorough investigation into every aspect of the matter. It is learnt that it was his communication to CID, that laid the foundation for Governor Administration’s decision to terminate the selection list. (KNS)
