Justice Masoodi demands reservation for CCI Children in Private Schools

Srinagar, Dec 26 (KNS): Justice Masoodi Chairperson SCOC, today called on Khurshid Ahmad Ganai, Advisor to Governor to apprise him about progress made in implementation of Juvenile Justice Act in the State and to highlight the issues required to be addressed to secure rights of children.
Justice Masoodi sought reservation in private schools for children housed in Children homes in the State. It was pointed out that children in such institutions do not have adequate facilities available in this regard.
Justice Masoodi reiterated demand for a separate Women and Child Development Department so that the funds earmarked are utilised for the benefit of most vulnerable and deprived segments of society. It was brought to notice of Khurshid Ganai that components of the same welfare scheme are overseen by different departments leading to confusion, lopsided implementation and lack of accountability.
Justice Masoodi emphasised urgent need to provide support staff to various structures like JJBs, CWCs under the Act as also to the Mission Directorate so that benefits under the Act are made available to the target group. (KNS)
