Hail legislators for raising issue in both houses

Srinagar, Jan 23 (KNS): The job aspirants in Jammu and Kashmir have hailed the government as it mulls to scrap the much contested SRO 202 in the state due to which the qualified job seekers had to rely on meager salaries for five long years.
Various youth appearing for the screen tests being conducted by the JKSSRB told KNS that they hope SRO 202 will be scraped by the present regime as it goes against the very essentials of the government service. “We are thankful to the government that it has decided to look into scrapping the 2015 job policy. We are also thankful to the legislators including Mohammad Khurshid Alam for raising the issue in the house. We hope that government will take holistic approach over the issue and decide the matter on the basis of merit,” said a group of youth appearing for the post of Accounts Assistant through SSB.
On social media too, netizens were found expressing hope of SRO 202 revocation. “ After burning mid night’s oil, a youngster in Kashmir braving all odds secures a government job and then according to this policy, he is entitled to get Rs 7000 a month for a post which has the gross pay of more than 35000 rupees. This is discrimination and anarchy,” writes a job aspirant, Aadil Farooq on micro-blogging site, Facebook.
SRO 202 was issued by Government of Jammu and Kashmir on June 30, 2015 and remains applicable thereafter. SRO 202 is a set of rules issued by the Governor (N N Vohra) of Jammu and Kashmir under the powers conferred by the proviso to section 124 of the Constitution of Jammu and Kashmir.
Under the SRO 202, during the period of first five years, the government appointee shall be entitled to the minimum of scale of pay along with the grade pay applicable to the post against which he is appointed. And further every appointee shall after completion of five years period on probation be entitled to fixation of pay in the time-scale of pay applicable to the post against which he is appointed.
