Asks Delhi Police to set its house in order

Srinagar, Dec 01 (KNS): Former Union Minister, Prof. Saifuddin Soz, Friday said Delhi Police has shown the extreme poverty of its imagination and the incident that occurred in Tihar Jail, recently should serve it as a warning to set its house in order.
Soz said Advocate M.S. Khan, who holds brief for many of the inmates, told me that Delhi High Court report has proved the fact that the criminals in the Jail blew a siren and gathered at barracks C & F and thrashed the inmates.
He said the Delhi High Court report established the fact that 18 persons including some Kashmiris were totally innocent.
“It is further unfortunate that one of the 18 innocent persons, who were thrashed, included Syed Shahid Yousuf, who is a political prisoner,” said the former JKPCC chief.
He said it is extremely callous disregard of duty by the Delhi Police which is duty- bound to look after the inmates in Tihar Jail.
“The J&K Govt. must respond to this situation, in full measure, and seek an explanation from the concerned. What happened at Tihar also shows the Ministry of Home Affairs in poor light as the obnoxious incident occurred close to its nose,” he added. (KNS)
