Srinagar, Jul 28 (KNS): The core group members of J&K BJP have been called by the high command to Delhi on Tuesday (30 July) to discuss the political atmosphere in the state and also the party's preparedness for assembly elections, sources told KNS.

They said Union minister Jitendra Singh, BJP general secretary Ram Madhav and J&K state unit president Ravinder Raina, besides others will attend the meeting, to be chaired by the BJP national Working President JP Nadda.

“Holding Assembly elections in November, Article 35A, delimitation and other important issues are scheduled to be discussed in the meeting with the state leaders. The BJP top brass wants feedback from the state leaders over these issues and that is why the meeting has been called,” sources added.

Besides Jitendra Singh and Ravinder Raina, the other members of the core group include Kavinder Gupta, Nirmal Singh, Ashok Koul, Sunil Sharma, Narender Singh and Yudveer Sharma.

When contacted Ashok Koul and Sunil Sharma confirmed to KNS that they have been called to Delhi for the meeting. “In every corner of the state BJP got overwhelming response during membership drive. Discussion on membership drive and holding of Assembly elections could be on the agenda of the meeting,” Koul told Kashmir News Service (KNS).

However, Sharma said discussion on Article 35A could also be on the agenda of the meeting.

On Saturday Ravinder Raina had said that the clarity about holding Assembly elections will occur after August 15, when the Amarnath Yatra is over.

“The election is likely to happen in October-November and the BJP will come to power with a full majority,” he had said. (KNS)
