Srinagar, May 08 (KNS): Jammu Kashmir Panchayat Conference on Wednesday staged a protest against the killing of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) district vice president Anantnag.

BJP district vice president Gul Muhammad Mir was on last Saturday killed at his home in Verinag area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

Scores of members from Jammu Kashmir Panchayat Conference today took to the streets and demanded security cover to all the Sarpanchs and Panchs who were elected in recent Panchayat elections.

They urged Governor Satya Pal Malik to take steps to put an end to killings of a political person in Kashmir.

Demanding inquiry into the killing of political persons including Gul Muhammad Mir, the protesters demanded government to provide security cover to those who were recently elected as Panchs and Sarpanchs in the State. (KNS)
