Srinagar, Mar 03 (KNS): Amid intermittent rainfall, the Rehbar-e-Taleem (ReT) teachers Saturday staged protest against the government for ‘failing’ to streamline their salaries.
Dozens of ReT’s under the banner of Jammu and Kashmir rehbar-e-Taleem Teachers Forum (JKReTF) assembled at Srinagar’s Press enclave and chanted slogans in favour of their demands.
The ReT led by Chairman Farooq Ahmad Tantray demanded authorities to release their salaries which according to them are withheld from past four months.
The protesting ReT’s said that despite assurances, the government has failed to streamline their salaries and threatened agitation in case the government failed to streamline their salaries.
“At least 45,000 teachers serving the department under SSA RMSA are without salaries from past four months, resulting in immense hardships to the teachers. The government must look into the matter and should release our pending salaries at an earliest,” they said.
The ReT protesters also said that the government has ignored them at fronts as it has miserably failed to regularize their services.
“We will continue to hit streets in case the government fails to fulfill our demands,” they threatened.
Meanwhile, Minister for Education, Syed Altaf Bukhari as per the sources met the ReT delegation here and assured them that they will look into the matter soon.
Later, the Minister told reporters here that the ReT’s are the backbone of education sector and a meeting under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti will be held wherein the issue pertaining to the ReT’s will be discussed and the decision will also be taken accordingly. (KNS)
