Condemns use of military might against youth

Anantnag, May 27 (KNS): Condemning the latest spree of mass arrests of innocent youth across south Kashmir, in the backdrop of killing of militant commander Zakir Musa, JKPM State Executive Member & Supreme Court Advocate Syed Iqbal Tahir has demanded their unconditional release immediately. He has alleged that innocent people especially youth have been picked up by authorities across different parts of South Kashmir just to create fear psychosis.

In a statement issued to KNS, Syed Iqbal has appealed to the administration to immediately release all the innocent youth so that their concerned families are relieved of mental trauma and harassment. He said authorities should, instead of resorting to military might, try to win hearts and minds of the people of Kashmir.

“Even minors have been picked up by the police and put behind the bars,” Syed Iqbal has ridiculed. He said authorities should read writing on the wall that policy of coercion has failed in past and will fail in future also.

Iqbal Tahir has alleged that the administration was totally indifferent towards the basic needs of the people who are miserably suffering for want of basic amenities including inadequate health care facilities.

“The most impounding problem our youth presently facing at present is alienation & uncertain future,” said Syed Iqbal, adding that youth in Kashmir feels himself totally insecure.

“JKPM will tirelessly work to ensure a safe and certain future for the youth of the state and make them real stakeholders of the state affairs,” Iqbal Tahir remarked that JKPM would fight for repealing of all draconian laws including AFSPA, PSA and POTA which give impunity to the forces and are being used as a tool for abusing human rights.
