JKLF leader shifted to central jail on six-day judicial remand: Spokesman

Srinagar, Mar 09 (KNS): Senior Zonal Vice President of JKLF, Muhammad Yasin Butt who was arrested by police yesterday was today shifted to central jail Srinagar on a six-day judicial remand, a spokesman said on Saturday.
“Yasin is a heart patient who has to take many life-saving drugs and this illegal arrest and shifting to jail can jeopardize his health condition,” JKLF said in a statement issued to KNS.
Pertinently, two days back, police slapped PSA on JKLF chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik and shifted him to Kot-Balwal jail.
“JKLF chairman is a known heart patient suffering from many other ailments too but shockingly at Kot-Balwal Jail he has been put into solitary confinement. He has been locked inside a barrack and singled out from all other inmates, which is too alarming,” JKLF said.
JKLF Zonal Organizer Bashir Ahmad Kashmiri and leader Zahoor Ahmad Butt are also languishing in jails under PSA while as another JKLF leader Sheikh Nazir is serving a life sentence at Kot-balwal jail.
Police recently arrested JKLF district presidents Bashir Ahmad Boya and Gulzar Pahalwan along with senior members Mushtaq Ahmad Wani, Nadeem Ahmad of Pampore, JKLF said, adding that all those arrested are in police custody from last many weeks.
While condemning ‘ongoing repression’, JKLF said that “suppression of political dissent by police and military might is disgusting and mockery of all democratic and legal norms.” (KNS)
