Discuses issues confronting hospitality sector, marketing campaigns

Srinagar, Nov 28 (KNS): Jammu and Kashmir Hotel and Restaurant Association (JKHARA) held meeting with PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry - Kashmir Chapter which was chaired by its Chairman Mushtaq Chaya to discuss some of the important issues confronting the State’s hospitality sector.
Co-Chairman PHDCCI Kashmir Chapter Zahoor Tramboo and Executive Committee Members including Viky Shaw, Jhon M Koul and Tariq Ghani also attended the meeting. JKHARA was led by its President Showkat M Chowdhary besides its General Secretary Adil Khan, Vice President Dr. Latif and other office bearers were present in the meeting.
At the outset, JKHARA congratulated the Mushtaq Chaya for his re-election as Chairman of the PHDCCI-Kashmir and presented him a memento as a token of appreciation for his untiring efforts in resolving the issues of various sectors.
JKHARA appreciated Mushtaq Chaya for taking up the issues of power tariff with the authorities and brining it at par with the small scale industries.
However, it was noted with the concern that the order has not been implemented so far by the concerned authorities as a result the hoteliers have not benefited from the order.
Mushtaq Chaya said PHDCCI would take up the matter again with the higher authorities so that the power tariff benefits are given to the hoteliers.
The members in the meeting also sought reimbursement of the GST.
During the meeting, the members expressed serious concern over the decline in the tourist footfall for past several years and it was felt the marketing campaigns need to be aggressively followed.
In this regard, JKHARA urged that all the associations of the hospitality sector should merge and put up united efforts in resolving the issues it is facing besides stepping up the marketing campaigns across the country.
The members in the meeting unanimously resolved to work together and also start marketing vigorously so that the new tourism season sees good tourist influx to the state. (KNS)
