Srinagar, Nov 12 (KNS): Jammu and Kashmir Hotel and Restaurant (JKHARA) Sunday held a detailed meeting with Kashmir Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI) to discuss ways and means to promote tourism sector and address its issues jointly.
The meeting was attended by KCCI President Sheikh Ashiq and its office bearers while as JKHARA was led by its President Showkat M Chowdhary.
At the outset, Chowdhary congratulated Sheikh Ashiq for being elected as KCCI President and KCCI President also congratulated Showkat M Chowdhary for heading the JKHARA.
The members in the meeting discussed the role of the Chamber in promoting tourism and taking up the issues of the tourism sector with the concerned authorities.
The meeting also expressed concern over the non-formulation of the master plan for Srinagar city and resolved to impress upon SMC and concerned authorities for the inclusion of the suggestions by private stakeholders in the master plan for the planned and sustainable growth of the Srinagar city.
JKHARA also discussed non-implementation of the government orders and promises it made to provide power benefits to tourism sector as per the SSI units.
Besides, impact of the GST on tourism sector was also discussed which the members said would be taken up with the concerned quarters so that taxes on tourism are downgraded.
JKHARA also urged KCCI to take them on board and also work jointly for the promotion of the tourism sector, which needs urgent push by the Chamber.
KCCI assured that tourism sector is one of their main agendas and urged JKHARA to provide them suggestions on regular basis which would be taken up with the authorizes for immediate redressal. (KNS)
