‘Shabir Shah completes two years of imprisonment in Tihar jail’

Srinagar, Jul 23 (KNS): On a day when its chief, Shabir Shah has completed his two years of incarceration in Tihar, Jail, Delhi, Jammu Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (JKDFP) has welcomed the mediation offer of US President Donald Trump on Kashmir. The JKDFP has stressed upon New Delhi to accept the offer of Trump so that the decades old Kashmir issue is resolved once for all. It is the same issue which has led to the unending bloodshed in Kashmir and instability in the whole south Asian region. So it is a golden opportunity for New Delhi to exhibit its maturity and get the Kashmir resolved through US mediation.

In a statement issued to KNS, JKDFP Spokesperson has said that New Delhi has jailed our leaders like Shabir Shah but it has not succeeded in shutting the eyes and ears of the world which is evident by the statement of President Trump on Kashmir. JKDFP chief, Shabir Shah has completed two years of his continuous imprisonment in Tihar jail, Delhi. He was arrested on July 25, 2017 and was shifted to Delhi where he was questioned in a fabricated and old case for some days before lodging him in Tihar jail where he is courageously scripting a new history of resistance.

Freedom Party Spokesperson said that India is a signatory to the International Convention about the prisoners which makes it duty bound to follow the international norms about the prisoners. However, New Delhi does not follow the same particularly about Shabir Shah and other political prisoners of Kashmir who are languishing in different jails of the state and outside.

The spokesman added that JKDFP salutes the political will of its jailed leader and pledges to take his mission forward. Every activist of the party has time and again made it clear that the mission of Shabir Shah will be taken forward at any cost. Shabir Shah has now become the voice of the whole nation and people are only worried about his falling health. He is suffering from many serious ailments in the jail for which he needs suitable treatment. JKDFP has appealed in strongest words to the Human Rights forums at the international level to intervene and make sure that the life of the ‘prisoner of Conscience’ is saved. (KNS)
