Srinagar, Jun 21 (KNS): Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (JKDFP) strongly condemned the booking of its provincial president Abdul Qayoom Matto and eight others in fake cases to shield those who exhibited hooliganism in Kishtwar on Eid day.
JKDFP spokesperson in a statement issued to KNS said that a few anti-social elements tried to provoke Muslims before and after Eid prayers in Kishtwar however the timely intervention of Abdul Qayoom and others prevented the situation from turning to worse.
“It was Abdul Qayoom who controlled Muslims and convinced them not to react. It is unfortunate that police have registered case against him and left the hooligans unaccountable which is shameful,” he said.
JKDFP spokesperson said that policy of subjugation and repression against the pro-freedom people in nook and corner has touched new heights the rule of law is something not made for the disputed region.
Terming the registration of cases against Matto and other as ‘unjustified and worst form of vengeance’, he said that authorities should instead arrest those elements who tried to provoke Muslims of the area. (KNS)
