JK Urdu Council holds seminar on journalism

Srinagar, Jun 20 (KNS): The Jammu and Kashmir Urdu Council today held a seminar on future of Urdu journalism in the state where senior journalists critically spoke.

The seminar was organised by Jammu and Kashmir Urdu council at University of Kashmir.

The council presented awarded to the media organisations for their contribution to journalism in Urdu language.

According to Kashmir News Service (KNS), speaking on the occasion, Vice president of JK Urdu Council Prof Naseem Rafiabadi highlighted the role of senior journalists and new organisations in promoting journalism in the state.

Senior faculty of MERC Nasir Mirza explained the role and responsibilities of journalists towards the profession and society.

Senior journalist, working with BBC Urdu Service, Riyaz Masroor said that Urdu media organisations need to get updated and innovative with the latest technological intervention in journalism field.

GN Var, president of Private Schools Association said that the society needs to be awake with the latest political happenings in the region.

He spoke on the education policy which was recently released by the government of India and said that the university and educated people have a role to play in awakening people and students about the education policy which will be implemented.

At the end, the council presented awards to Kashmir News Service (KNS), News 18 Urdu and Wadi ki Awaaz for their contribution in journalism in Urdu language. (KNS)
