Jammu, Nov 07 (KNS): J&K Police Golf team comprising of Dilbag Singh-IPS, Commandant General HG/CD/ SDRF J&K, J.P Singh-IPS, IGP (Personnel), Alok Kumar-IPS,IGP Security, Ashkoor Ahmad Wani-IPS,IGP(CIV), Shailendra Kumar,SSP, Commandant JKAP 9th Battalion and Pawan Parihar-SSP,JKPS, S.O to DIG JSK Range presented the trophies to DGP J&K today.
The team did exceedingly well in the All India Police Golf Competition held at ITC Classic golf Course at Manesar Haryana and was declared “second Runner up” on the basis of team Net total score amongst all the states of the country and CPMFs.
The DGP felicitated the team captain Dilbag Singh and the team ,appreciating their performance despite the constraints faced by the J&K Police for regular practice and commitment to law & order duties. This is the Ist time that J&K Police as a team has won any position in All India Golf tournament, held outside the State.
Alok Kumar, IPS IG Security and Pawan Parihar-SSP grossed over all 3rd place in the Championship.
Despite tough competition all the team members gave their best and scored far less then their handicap to register themselves in the reckoning for first three positions. In the end hosts Haryana Police bagged the Ist position, BSF came 2nd overall and J&K Police secured 2nd Runner up position.
Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore Union Minister for Sports gave away the prizes and trophies to the winning teams and especially appreciated the J&K Police team’s commendable performance despite very difficult situation in the State. (KNS)
